Question:
How do I incorporate a little girl's theme into a room with folk-patriotic wallpaper?

My daughter is almost 2, and we just passed down her brother's toddler bed, so I need to sew a cover and a skirt for it. The walls, unfortunately, are cream colored, speckled with different sized stars (soft red, soft blue, white, striped, etc.) It's not really ugly, it just doesn't fit.

Because we are currently remodeling the kitchen, I don't have time to strip the wallpaper and paint. What can I do about making curtains and a headboard cover that would still look okay for a little girl and not scream Republican/Democratic National Convention? All suggestions and ideas are welcome. Thanks!

I'd do one of two things....either go with that theme and do like a countryish Americana look with primitive dolls and a patchwork quilt etc...maybe some little girl samplers on the wall.......or..........just paint over the wallpaper with flat paint for now till you can strip it later. Then you can do what you want...sort of :))

Okay let me think here. I think gingham black and white. Black and white gingham curtains, a cute table farm animals or black wood or white or whatever with a Huge Raggedy Anne doll sitting at the table having tea. Incorporate these items with the bedding. You could do a very cute lady bug bedspread or just a white quilt with some black. Check out JcPenneys brand American Living and look at the red white and black bed set in the adult bedding to get ideas. I definitely see raggedy ann. Heck, put her in a beautiful powder blue dress having tea. Put a cute horse on the bed and maybe Andy. These little accessories help the room come together. What about doing a solid deep red bedding and and blue jean material for skirt and add some blue jean material throw pillows and accent with Raggedy ann. I think it would be adorable. They have some real cute raggedy ann primitive items now. I am getting ready to do my daughters room in that theme to go along with the rest of my house. I love to decorate in primitive style!
