Need some advice on what color to paint the exterior trim on a yellow brick bungalow. It is currently the most hideous color of yellow I have ever seen. Looking for color suggestions other than whit, yellow or brown. Any links /pictures would be helpful.

I would paint the door white to match the trim. It will help give the house a more traditional and elegant appearance, and will really make the colour of the surrounding flowers stand out.

There is a house in our town that was just renovated and the colors they selected for the outside paint job look sooooo good. The body of the house is yellow and the trim is a sage green. I smile every time I drive by that house. Consider that.

If you go out into your yard, away from the house, you can hold the paint chip up, close one eye, and line the chip up to your front door (you may have to fold the chip to size) you can see, with that one eye closed, how that paint chip color will look on your house before even taking out a paint brush. I highly recommend this method to my clients all of the time and it never fails when selecting trim paint for the outside of a house. I love yellow homes.

So, try a few shades of sage green-- it is a color between lime green and moss green.

Good luck with your painting project.

If you have shutters paint those black and the window trim an off white (benjamin moore. navajo white?). Black door with brass hardware would look real sharp. If you don't have shutters, try black trim, if there is a lot of trim you might want to tone it down with the front door being a few shades lighter than the yellow brick (but in the same color family) and use black hardware for the door. Without seeing the yellow brick I think black will give you an up to date look where dark green, dark brown, or dark blue might look outdated. Whatever combination you choose between trim, shudders, front door I think you need a total of three colors. Yellow brick, black, off white.

My brother has a yellow brick school house and they painted their trim a sage green. If you don't like green, cream is always good

Go to this site:

You can choose one of their scenes or upload a pic of your house. Type in yellow and click on all the yellows close to your color. Teal stencil and rock garden look good.
