Ok, so I've lived in my condo for about a year and a half, but due to an odd upstairs neighbor, who just moved out last week(thankfully), I haven't been able to do anything with the main front room, you know the room you walk into when you walk into an apt/condo.

Therefore, my living room is in my second bedroom which is right next to the main room, so it doesn't look weird or anything. I already have my tv wall mounted and everything decorated in there.

The main room has a giant chair, coffee table, and 2 barstools that are at the kitchen counter. Basically, it is just an odd space. I would love to do something with this this room before next Thursday when I happen to be throwing a party.

Would it be too odd to have another sitting room set up? If I went to get a vintage couch and got rid of the chair?

2 sitting areas are in no way odd. Normally if you have a media room the front room is set up a bit fa fa fussy. The vintage couch goes well with fa fa fussy. Normally this room is set for reading or tea. To go along with the vintage couch add a tea table a comfy chair and some books. Check the antique stores for a tea table and a vintage lamp too. http://www.casabella.us/uploaded/portfolio_images/4978c291b430d_Elliff_parlor_before.JPG

If you like to entertain, you're going to need the space and extra seating--that's for sure. Why not think of your TV room that's already done as your "Media Room" and set up a nice comfortable Living Room in that front space. It's the first thing people will see when they walk in; and as it's the room that gives the first impression, you want it to be interesting and welcoming......so why not the vintage couch if that's what you like? Do you (or have you) traveled and collected things? Place them in that room to invite conversation. A place for music as well? Wall art or a few framed posters that go with your theme.

I don't know what coffee table you have, but if you have any table that can take either a piece of glass or plastic cut to size, why not insert favorite photos under the glass (of your travels, scenic ones, friends, etc?). A standing bar or wine rack can be added. And don't forget about lighting and REAL floor plants (will add life to the room!). An area rug in front of couch to bring the "look" out

more into the room? (Yes, you can put carpet on carpet). Don't worry if you don't get it all done in a day...people understand.

Fast fix: lights, plants, couch, music, things meant for entertaining.....food, drink and laughter :D.

If you are a book lover, it is a bit late, but you could install floor to ceiling bookshelves and fill them with books and curios and cute little objects. Dark furniture would be nice, trying to make it look like a library in an old estate home.

Maybe you could rent some furniture, or pick up some nice pieces at a thrift store somewhere.

Another suggestion would be to make this another sitting room, but different, using some wicker furniture......wicker sofa and chair, and perhaps a rocking chair, with wicker coffee and end tables, wicker lamps, a pretty braided rug on the floor or carpeting.

Best wishes.

I think a vintage couch would be a wonderful idea. You may not get this done by Thursday but I would recommend filling it with Books as a kind of quiet reading room.
