Me my mom and sisters moved into our sh*tty home about 4 years ago and it hasn't changed one bit. The walls in each room are all horrible old wallpaper. The carpets and tiles in each room are old and boring. My room is the only room that's changed.
We have mix match furniture from the previous owners and our relatives! The house feels empty and cold. Every room has no life in it, no colour at all. Every single room has cream wallpaper! And the gardens a joke!

We'd love fresh colours and nice designs on the walls, and tidy carpets and tiles that ain't freezing cold and to look really modern! :(

Just wondering any cheap ways to improve your home, with not alot of money but with alot of effort. I'm willing to get on the roof if i had to lol!

Thanks

The single most and least expensive thing to transform a room is to paint it. So, get permission from the landlord and strip off the wallpaper, clean the walls and paint them.

Put area rugs on the floors and you will be amazed at the transformation. You can paint old mix matched furniture all one color to make them cohesive in one room. You can buy thrift shop items such as lamps and spray paint them as well. So, adding a bit of color is easy and inexpensive.

Good Luck.

Pull the wallpaper one room at a time. Wet it with fabric softener mixed with water - scrape. Repair the wall. Wash the wall - Prime and Paint. Start with the most used room in the home. If this is the living room then address the windows and the sofa. Furniture can all be painted so it's one color. Espresso is popular right now. The sofa can be covered with material ...that needs material a staple gun and a sewing machine.

Head to a used furniture place or thrift shop for inspiration decorative items like curtains and fill ins and art work. You can even paint over old paintings to make an abstract, paint the frame too - to match the furniture. Any place can look great with some paint and some imagination. You can get paint very inexpensively at Habitat Stores or even the big box stores have cans on the side that came out wrong for the customer and are offered for little money.

But focus one room at a time .. then move on.

For the garden...Dig it up and plant seeds...ask for clippings from neighbors, friends and family. Some plants will root very easily like hydrageneas. Just stick the cutting in the ground and keep it wet.
