I need to paint my room and have decided on the colour I would like to use, but with so many brands of paint how do I decide which one to go for? If I buy a cheaper paint will the walls start peeling off? What do I need to know before choosing the paint?

Well you want a paint that covers well and I would stay away from some yellows. Colors with allot of yellow oxide tenting will fade badly over time. You also want a scrubbable paint, that means you can wash it off with a rag and water after it dries. Dutch Boy, found at walmart, Baer, at Home Depot, and Valspar, at Lowe's generally have good quality. You can go to Sherwin Williams for great paint, but they are expensive, and Dutch Boy is made by the Sherwin Williams company. Bear and Valspar actually have been the two highest rated paints for several years. They are thick and cover well.

Dark colors sometimes need primers before painting and several coats, so you might think about how much work you want to put into it as well. I would always suggest at least two coats of any paint. It gets rid of the lines you see from rollers, rollers, brushes, etc..

hope this helps.

It is so much work to paint a room, the cost of the paint is really one of the cheapest home improvement expenses you can get.

I recommend the name brand high end paints, for the reasons that they contain more pigments, and better binders which means they cover better and look richer on the wall. Also, they have a better more finely turned color range that are more likely to result in a great designer look.

Sherwinwilliams.com, Pratt and Lambert, Benjamin Moore are some of the top manufacturers that designers and architects use. If you go to your local dealer they can advise you on your job and help you get the best result. Theyre the experts.

Cheaper paint will usually be more watery if it's a water-based product. Going to your local Lowes - you will want to focus on the Valspar paint. Great quality of product and not too much for your wallet. :)

The paint will not chip off. It'll go on smooth.

The best way way is to buy from a real paint store. NOT HOME DEPOT OR LOWES.

Real paint stores have customer assistants that are fully trained in all aspects of painting. Home depot and such have clerks to mix paint.

Remember the wisdom of the ages: "You get what you pay for".
