im a 13 turning 14 year old girl and i really need some bedroom designs. this is the first time i actually get to design my own room so i want to make it nice. my fav colors are red, white and black but since my room is in the basement i don't get any natural light and my mom thinks that those colors will be to dark(especially because my room is getting dark hardwood floors)...she wants me to have a neutral color in my room but i don't want my room to say "adult". if you have any cute AND neutral ideas that say teen and young adult, please go wild with whatever ideas you have. btw, i don't NEED my room colors to be red, white and black, those were just my first designs. make sure that the colors will go with dark hardwood floors though please. the best ideas will be chosen as winner. thanks to every one

You definitely need a light neutral earth tone, something in the cool blues or greens to reflect and bounce the lighting in your room, perfect with the red, black and white.

such as a light turquoise

Then pick out a bed in a bag, rug, wall decor/mirror, lighting, accents and accessories.

http://www.etsy.com/search/handmade?q=red+black++memo+boards

Easy and inexpensive to make one by wrapping a piece of fabric to the back of a corkboard and staple in place.

You can buy 1/2 yard (18x45") of fabric for about $2 in tons of different black/red/white colors, patterns and designs at any fabric store or sewing section in dept stores. walmart/kmart

1st, if your room's big enough, get a sofa. Not even a big one. I have a little, bright orange sofa in my room and it 100% ties it together.

For your walls, pick either a light color or any two colors that don't clash. Light colored rooms are really nice because they make it seem a lot more lively and bright and they scream teenage girl. They're super cute too!

Since you have hard wood floors, you should really consider a rug to match your walls. I'm just assuming that since you're bed is in the basement that it should be a good size.

When it comes to lighting, get a lamp that matches your walls. Bedrooms always seem to have lamps, never actual wall lights. Consider a floor lamp that's about as tall as you are, or taller. Those are really hip and super kool looking.And you can always get more than one!

Try to make your bedding and any additional furniture (sofa, chairs, pillows, bean bags, rugs) all have a color scheme.

If your favorite colors are red, white and black you can always have two bright red walls and two white walls, that wouldn't really darken your room, it would also look super boss. And you can have a black, white, and red furniture scheme too.

Black and white are colors that go with anything, so if you just choose one other color, you're set.

And with the red you can also choose pink, and brown goes with pink really well. A white, brown, pink color scheme looks really good! (I have a friend who has a pimped out room those colors, looks amazing).

Anyways, this is just my opinion, but I think if you did this your room would look 100% teenage girl.

Also, mirrors are GREAT! I have mirror doors on my closet and I wish I had more. If you can get some cute mirrors in your room, they really pull it together.
