I'm painting bare wood and have used a white prime coat. I want to paint a top coat using semi-gloss white paint. Do I have to let the paint totally dry before doing so?

It's always best that the primer coat be completely dry before painting. But, once the primer coat is no longer tacky, you can paint if you really need to do so. Just be careful not to put too thick a coat, or try to paint it on too thinly as you may cause the primer so soften and pull up/off.

Absolutely, Yes. Primers usually dry pretty quickly 1-2 hours, depending on temp and humidity. Paint will take considerably longer 12-24 hours.

Yes you can use it,and I also recommend using clear acrylic enamel Give it 2 to 3 very light coats rather then one heavy coat, it will hold up better and longer for you.

yes, definitely let the primer dry. Otherwise it might streak and/or bleed through the finish coat.

I would. Otherwise you may have trouble seeing the wet paint on the wet primer.

yes otherwise you'll have a really messy uneven top coat that will look tacky
