How do i replace patches of lost popcorn on the ceiling?

My husband and I thought that a good weekend project would be to paint the bedroom. We tried to paint the ceiling which had popcorn on it - unfortunately a couple of patches came loose in the process. Does anyone know if this means that we have to remove all the popcorn and repaint or is there any way that we can cover the patches? We are complete newbies at painting and are very confused. Thanks in advance!

Easy. Most paint stores carry ceiling patch. Popcorn patch is available under the Lepage brand.

P.S. when painting textured ceilings, you may want to use aklyd paint (latex softens some textures).

You can buy touch up pop corn in a spray can at Lowes or Home Depot.It is usually found in the paint section of the store.If you buy it make sure you get a couple rolls of plastic also.This stuff can be messy to work with.Its easy to use and clean up.It usually takes 24 hours to dry and looks pretty good when finished.

you can buy some drywall mud and apply it thick, with a trowel, then use a sponge, pressing up to the ceiling, then pulling straight down, practice until you get close to the way the rest of the ceiling looks, allow to dry and paint it. by the time everything is painted, you won't be able to notice, unless you know it's there and are looking for it

Your local home center (lowes or home depot) in the paint department should have cans of popcorn texture also known as acoustical ceiling texture.

I have never used this product but link shows atleast there are some products out there to patch. I think there is also a spray can. Might check with local hardware store.
