It's bamboo flooring and it will be installed over plywood right above the crawl space. Are there any types of moisture barriers or underlayments that will be necessary for this job?

Moisture barrier should under the flooring in the crawl space , atop the dirt floor or to the joists on the under side. If there isn t one , one should be put there to prevent the joists from moisture.

Other than that felt paper should be used under any hard wood flooring.

If there is no moisture barrier in the crawl space, adding it atop your flooring inside will trap and hold moisture in the crawl space. GL

There always had crawl spaces in all older homes in which there was nothing but dirt, sandstone foundations, etc. I've remodeled homes and these kinds especially. When ever you put down any hardwood floor, you need to put a sound - vapor barrier which you can buy with the flooring. This is moisture proof on the bottom and cushion on the top for sound between the sub floor and the wood floor. Done a lot of these. Felt was used back in the days for this, so nothing needs to be done for under the joists.

As the other guy mentioned the crawl space needs to be insulated and have a moisture barrier present. Especially if the bamboo is going to be nailed down. If it is going to be nailed down use roofing felt paper as a moisture barrier. If it is floated use quick step or another padded barrier.

i don't have hardwood flooring yet the two my father and mom and my in regulations have it of their homes and my daughter did have subject crawling on it on the initiating. Carpet became much less complicated for her, yet she at last have been given used to the hardwood and now that is in basic terms as user-friendly as carpet for her. while you're apprehensive approximately her slipping and banging her head, i would not subject a lot. My daughter has been crawling for sort of three months and has in no way slipped on the hardwood floor. even however, if she did it would not be so undesirable. babies fall each and all of the time, that is in basic terms area of being a toddler.
