I like what you have going on. What we did for one customer was apply actual beach sand to accent one of their walls. It may be too difficult for you to do as you would need equipment and such but it did come out well and they were really happy. Wish I could help you with it...but if you have a contractor friend or people to help this could be fun.

You'll need a compressor, hopper gun, airless sprayer, 3/4x9" roller nap, roller pole, beach sand, water based clear coat, Elmer's glue or wallcovering paste.

First sand your wall and cover the floor and other areas well. Then with a roller pole and nap apply a medium heavy coat of Elmer's glue or wallcovering paste. Once the glue/paste is applied attach the hopper gun to the compressor and add the sand. In a circular motion spray the sand onto the wall making sure to cover all the glue/paste evenly. Allow to dry overnight. With the airless sprayer apply two even coats of a water based clear satin finish using a 411 or 413 tip. Make sure that the spray application if done evenly. Once dried, you can hang the items that you plan on purchasing of apply shells, etc. to your liking.

Yes, big job but it really looked like you were on the beach in Hawaii. Just FYI in case you were interested...If not, what you have already selected will be awesome!
