I am a first time home buyer, so my furniture isnt the greatest.. but I need to find a way to make something "not so good" into something "super fabulous." right now, my walls are white.. but my couch has a lot of white in it. Should I keep my walls the same or paint them a certain color? what color?

Leave your walls white and save your money for a sisal rug. You can also get color into your room with some pink and also yellow toss pillows - blue mattress ticking would look nice with your furniture too.

Click on the link to see sisal rugs.

Well, I'm a guy and certainly no expert in colors, but I've always thought that Blue goes well with Red. Black gives more of Gothic feel to it, but could look good for a while. I personally like Navy Blue, but a Sky Blue might give a better contrast. The idea of painting just one wall isn't bad either, but that would give a Red, White, Blue theme that seems to get a little over used. (I'm personally a fan of the scheme though) come to think of it, Silver or maybe a Grey might not look too bad either. I'm sure whatever you choose will look great: girls just have that way with colors.

Paint one wall of your living room one of the colors in the sofa and loveseat; I'd go with a pink shade. Alternatively, go to Target and buy some slip covers, and work with a new color

way. I'm not sure if it is the picture or the fabric, but the furniture has a faded look. You need to do a "shabby chic" look for now. Google "shabby chic", and make the best of it!

Plants, mirrors, "art" (posters are good), books, etc..

My first thought was a light sage green color. Definitely don't keep the walls white, IMHO. Just about any color of pastel will dramatically change your feeling in the room, even if it looks almost white in the can. Keep in mind cool vs. warm colors and what type of sun exposure the room gets as well as the size of the room. Cool colors tend to make a room feel larger. but can also make it feel well "cold". Southern light will warm up a room and you can go with a cooler color then. Personally I like warmer colors so if I chose light blue I would go with one that had some red in it, like Periwinkle blue.

I would def go with color. IMO if you keep them white it washes out and makes the already used furniture just as dingy. I would maybe go with a blue or a cappucino brown (neutral but still a color). Have fun!

I would paint it so that the furniture stands is highlighted. It looks like the couch & love seat have some pink accents, so I would choose something like "pink shadow" by sherwin williams:

I would actually keep the walls white like a blank canvas so to speak. Then you could put some pictures or unusual posters with varying themes and colours. This way ,you can swop around whenever you come across more pictures posters e.t.c. Hope this helps!

How about;

1] pale blue or cream of sofa for walls

2] pink and green and dark blue of sofa for throw pillows

3] darker blue of sofa for drapes

4] darker blue and green, or pink, with white/cream for rug

5] repeat the blues, pink, and green in other small accessories [ lamps, vase, ornaments, candles ]

I would go with a lighter shade of blue to match that chair. The blue in the chair will be a nice contrast and the sofa/loveseat have blue in it.

I would go with a very pale mauve but that isn't for everyone. Your furniture looks so homey and comfortable!

theres already enuff blue in the furniture, so id do the walls in a pale grey. its classy and neutral and would go well with your upholstery.

I like it!

I think you should go with some sort of textured wall paper and I would go with a bluegrey :)

But if you have a lot of fillers(shelves, large pictures, book cases etc...) white will be fine :)

I would have to say go with a blue/grey(kind of a steel/blue)

You don't want to do the mauve in those pieces.

The chair will be in style, but those other pieces are outta style.

I hope you the best.

I think a nice yellow or green would really stand your couch out! or even a blue would go, but that might be too much blue. I would go with a light green or a mellow yello, hav fun with it ;D
